Introduction

 

           Water Tech Corp is a manufacturer of battery-operated pool cleaning vacuums. The MIS 

manager that we will be working with is Tim Morales who is also the VP of the company. They 

oversee the engineering and operations department of the company. 
           

         In this day and age, most businesses utilize management information systems in their company, 

helping them utilize tools to support processes, operations intelligence, and IT.  MIS allows these 

businesses to operate by gathering internal and external information that enable them to make effective 

and informed decisions to further their business. For our group report in our management information 

systems class, we were required to choose a business that utilizes MIS to further their business. As a 

group, we had agreed on choosing the company Water Tech Corporation, a pool vacuum company located 

in East Brunswick, New Jersey that specializes in innovating quality products for the spa and pool 

industry. Most of their products are battery operated units, while their competitors require the use of hoses 

and wires in order to operate. Since 2001 Water tech has slowly increased in size and popularity starting 

from a small studio apartment, and moving to a large warehouse.  Water Tech is responsible for 

manufacturing and selling parts, and holding up their warranty for any of their products purchased from 

customers. Many of their products are sold through pool stores such as Leslies’s pool, In the Swim, and 

even corporations such as Walmart , Ace Hardware, and Amazon. Although the company has been 

successful over the past 19 years, our group is focused on analyzing the way Water Tech has used their 

information systems for improved performance over the last 3-5 years. Post analyzation, we will 

recommend new courses of action that may lead to further improvements for the future of the company.

         Our goal is to gather information about the company of our choice, which is Water Tech 

Corporation. We want to figure out what the company does, and what are things the company 

can improve on. We want to focus on how the company uses information systems to improve 

their company from the last few years and give recommendations for future solutions.
